Rotavirus vaccine subsidy for children starting from April 5, 2017
In order to effectively reduce the infant rotavirus infection as well as to reduce the financial burden of parents, Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-Je announced to subsidize rotavirus vaccine from April 5, 2017. Huang Shier-Chieg, the Commissioner of Department of Health, Taipei City Government said the improvement of health conditions will only reduce the bacterial infection but not effective in terms of virus infection. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that vaccine to be used to prevent rotavirus disease. All infants from 6 weeks to 24 or 32 weeks (based on brands) with a second class of children medical service subsidy certificate will receive full subsidy when inoculation is taken within a specified time with maximum subsidy of NT$5,700. All infants with first and third class of children medical service subsidy certificate will receive NT$2,100 subsidy. It is estimated that 30,000 children from Taipei City will benefit. Hope to let all the children in Taipei City to have an extra protection in addition to wash their hands, clean environment, and parents can also reduce their financial burden.
