Smoking is now completely prohibited within the compound of The Shilin Main Presidential Residence, offenders will be fined up to NT$10,000

Since its opening from January 2nd, 2011 until end of June, 2011, The Shilin Main Presidential Residence has an accumulative visit of 120,000. As The Shilin Main Presidential Residence has become a significant place of interest for tourists from all over the world in Taipei City. Department of Health, Taipei City Government announced that smoking is now completely prohibited within the compound of The Shilin Main Presidential Residence by Paragraph 11 of Article 15 of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act on July 16th, 2011, so as to provide a green and smoke-free environment and protect the interests of the public health.
Offenders will be fined between NT$2,000 to NT$10,000 by Article 31 of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act. The Department urges the public to comply with the regulations, in order to maintain the smoke-free environment.
