Taipei City had set the smoke-free public square of 932 bus stops and 1,150 waiting kiosks in Taipei city from January 1, 2017.

To build a smoke-free outdoor environment and to protect general public from passive smoking, the Department of Health, Taipei City Department had set the smoke-free public square of 932 bus stops and 1,150 waiting kiosks in the city from January 1, 2017 based on Article 15, Paragraph 1, No. 13 of Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act. The smoke-free area is determined by the vertical projection area of the waiting kiosks. According to Article 31, Paragraph 1, violators will be fined from NT$2,000 to NT$10,000. A promulgation period lasts from January 1, 2017 until February 28, 2017 and fine will be imposed from March 1, 2017.
