Global Climate changes, the spread of emerging infectious diseases, the growingly diverse
socioeconomic structure, the increasingly urbanized and crowded living environment have
resulted in a myriad of issues: traffic congestion, physical and mental vulnerability, ecological
pollution, and imbalance in resource distribution and management. Seeking to effectively
tackle these issues, Taipei City Government set up a “Taipei Healthy City and Age-friendly
City Promotion Platform” to integrate “health, age-friendly and community safety” concerns,
and enlisted support from the industry, the government, academia and the private sectors to
identify five major advocacy areas :
Safety and Security, Sustainable Ecology, Friendly Culture, Vitality and Health Prosperity and Convenience.
in keeping with the 2030 SDGs initiated by the United Nations. To further reinforce policy
implementation performance, Taipei City Government incorporated the following principles
– “Health in all policies,” “making smart technologies as growth engine” to drive and corespond
to 10 SDG’s.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, priority implementation areas in Taipei City Government’s
Healthy City moving toward sustainable development goals have evolved accordingly, from
“pandemic prevention and responsiveness,” “resilience and recovery,” “digital transformation”
to the following five strategic goals set between 2021 and 2025: “Community Safety
Network Reinforcement,” Low-Carbon Recycling and Energy Regeneration,” “Co-Learning and
Accompanied Healthy Aging,” “Physical Activity and Mental Health” and “Amenity Services for
the Disadvantaged” These programs are tech-enabled and innovation-driven to fulfill proage,
precision health for all, and making strides toward a livable, sustainable new normal life.
