As of September 1, 2019, smoking has been prohibited under the pedestrian arcade of 5 chain convenience stores and 10 chain coffee shops in Taipei City

To protect the people's right to health and stay away from secondhand smoke, and build a smoke-free outdoors environment, the Department of Health, Taipei City Government announced pursuant to Subparagraph 4, Paragraph 1, Article 16 of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act that smoking is prohibited under the pedestrian arcade of 5 chain convenience stores (President, Family Mart, Hi-Life, OK Mart, Simple Mart) and 10 chain coffee shops (Starbucks, Louisa, 85°C, Mr. Brown, Dante, Barista, Ikari, cama café, Crown&Fancy, Peter Better café) in Taipei City as of September 1, 2019. Whoever smokes at these locations will be handed an administrative fine of not less than NT$2,000 and not more than NT$10,000 pursuant to Paragraph 1, Article 31 of the Act.
