In order to protect the right to health of the general public from second-hand smoke and create an outdoor smoke-free environment, the Department of Health of Taipei City Government has listed the outdoor public area of Hanlinyuan Community(Imperial Garden) in Wenshan District, the outdoor section and the surrounding sidewalks of Chengzhong Social Welfare Service Building and the surrounding sidewalks of Guting Elementary School in Da’an District as smoke-free venues in accordance with Subparagraph 4, Paragraph 1, Article 16 of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act starting from February 1, 2020. Smokers who violate the rules will be fined for NT$2,000 to NT$10,000 in accordance with Paragraph 1, Article 31 of the Act.
